  Welcome!!

Who we are

MCM is a Christian ‘think tank’ which is concerned about the moral aspects of public issues. Its members come from various denominations and backgrounds but who are united by a common vision.

Our Vision

To give Judeo-Christian moral values a reasoned and biblically sound voice, and to stimulate the Church to fulfill its mandate of being salt and light, thereby influencing issues and transforming the Jamaican society.

Raison d'etre

Public life has become increasingly dominated by humanistic values in an age of modernity. This is reflected in changes to our Laws and in the conduct of our public servants.

Unfortunately we tend to be responsive, oftentimes speaking out when it is too late to have a meaningful impact on the issues at hand. There is no structured monitoring system to ensure, for example, that Bills passing through Parliament are systematically scrutinized for their moral content or for how much regard is given to the values and attitudes of the majority of Jamaicans by parliamentarians.

MCM will be a watchdog on moral issues in the public domain, ensuring that society in general, and the Church in particular, are aware of the moral and spiritual implications of public policy.

Scope

Many, if not all, aspects of public life have a moral component. If, however, we try to be all things to all men, we will probably find that we are swamped by a multitude of issues too numerous to handle effectively.

We will confine our efforts to the following broad issues;

  • Re-establishing the family as the basic unit of society (Family issues)
  • Defending the institution of marriage as presently defined by Law, i.e. between a man and a woman. (Marriage issues).
  • Protecting innocent human life (Human rights, abortion issues)
  • The role of the Church in society (Church and society issues)

Modus Operandi

  • Speaking out in the media and public arenas
  • Making representation before Parliament
  • Lobbying/petitioning influential persons and regulatory bodies
  • Establishing a media watch
  • Establishing a Parliamentary watch
  • Printing newsletters and establishing this web site
